FOX HEATH CAMP 2024: This marks our 54th year at Fox Heath. With each new year we strive to bring innovation and improvement to our facilities and program.
Campers will be divided into groups based on their riding experience and age, from beginners to advanced. We have divided our camp format into three sections. The mini-stirrup part is designed for our youngest and least experienced campers. Level two is for our middle school and intermediate riders. Our senior campers are our oldest and most experienced riders and will be offered a more concentrated curriculum. Our campers will learn all about horses, their care, in addition to riding each day
Daily Curriculum: Riding lessons, weekly trail rides, demonstrations, and practical experience are all part of the camp experience. Campers put together a project book that helps to reinforce topics of discussion.
Thursdays are horse show days and the highlight of every week of camp. There are classes for all levels of riders, even the most inexperienced. The show is made up of about 24 classes, starting with lead line classes, then beginner walk, trot, and canter, and ending with hunter and equitation classes on the flat and over fences. The entry fee per class is $13. Campers may enter as many classes as they are eligible for. One complimentary class is included in the camp tuition. In addition to competing in the show, campers help in its production. The beginner students present ribbons. The more experienced campers help to set up for the show, record entries, and announce.
Campers should arrive in their riding clothes, but may bring shorts to change into and also a bathing suit, towel, and pool shoes for the swimming portion of the day. Campers just learning to swim should bring an inflatable vest or swimmies. Campers bring their own lunch, which should include a snack and plenty to drink. Pick up will be at the stone wall in front of the barn at 3:00. Children must be picked up promptly at 3pm. If child is picked up late there will be a $10 per 30 minute charge for children under 10 years old. We must get prior notification so our staff can stay late.
As always, we strive to give our campers a safe, meaningful and fun experience with horses, incorporating aspects that will appeal to all levels of riders. Looking forward to a very fun and inspiring 2024 season.
